Conversation 5: Building Virtual Communities for Tangible Impact

In this new realm of a digital age, what does it mean to build virtual communities and more specifically, virtual communities for sustained social impact? As the need to be socially connected becomes the norm, Social Enterprises will delve deeper into how can we leverage on various mediums to build resilient communities to disucss social issues and bridge social gaps.

Who Will Be Speaking?

Moderator: Richardo Chua - Managing Director, Adrenalin Group
Richardo is the Group Managing Director of the social enterprise events agency - Adrenalin Group Pte. Ltd.

Prior to starting Adrenalin, he worked in the public sector with the Economic Development Board for close to 2 years, there he helped to encourage overseas companies to invest in Singapore. It was also at EDB that he was inspired to combine his love for events and a heart to contribute to the community and start Adrenalin. Today Adrenalin is a team of 40 people with 4 different subsidiaries that looks after the events, creative, photography/videography and audio/visual event support.

30% of Team Adrenalin is made up of people who are deaf, use a wheelchair or are disadvantaged youths. Adrenalin has managed over 600 events with many of them at national and international level events such as the launch of the Presidents Challenge and International Volunteer Day. The agency believes that all companies have the right to quality marketing consulting and branding. Rigmor has helped more than 200 companies build brand and marketing strategies and she has coached more than 50 companies in marketing and business. She has hosted over 50 offline workshops and, with COVID-19, over 10 online. She is also a board member of the Norwegian Business Association in Singapore.

Jack Sim - Founder/Director, World Toilet Organisation
Jack Sim, founder of World Toilet Organization, achieved financial success through several business ventures at an early age. As he grew older, Jack felt the need to change his direction in life and give back to humanity– he wanted to live his life according to the motto “Live a useful life”. Jack soon left his businesses and embarked on a journey to have a positive impact in the world. In 2001, Jack Sim founded the World Toilet Organization (WTO) to bring the Sanitation issue to the global spotlight and to advocate for clean sanitation for all. After years of dedication to the Sanitation issue, Jack Sim continues to be involved but in 2011, he embarked on a new radical project, that being BoP HUB. He had a vision to “design business to end poverty”. Jack is a firm believer in the economic empowerment of the poor. BoP HUB now serves as a vehicle for partners in every industry and sector to collaborate and accelerate effective social business models focused at the base of the pyramid.
