As a Social Enterprise
Are you a Social Enterprise looking to join raiSE and gain access to the social enterprise ecosystem in Singapore? Perhaps you are a business interested to make the transition into a Social Enterprise?
The raiSE membership is open to all registered companies that possess the following qualities of a Social Enterprise and a proven social impact track record. Upon submission, your application will undergo the necessary validation processes to assess if your company meets the requirements.
raiSE defines Social Enterprises (SE) as a business entity set up with clear social goals where there is clear management intent and resources allocated to fulfil social gaps and needs.

SE membership assessment criteria:
Join us as a Social Enterprise if you :
1. Have a Sustainable Business Model
- Generate the majority of your revenue from the provision of goods & services
- A clear business plan to achieve financial sustainability & profitability
2. Have Clear Management Intent
- Management or founder has a clear intention to make social goal(s) the core objective(s) of the business
- There is a commitment to achieving the double bottom line of financial returns and social impact creation.
- An allocation of at least 20% of resources to fulfill social outcomes.
3. Support Persons in Need or at Risk
Generally, a person in need or at risk is identified when they experience deprivation in at least one of the following areas:
- Economical (e.g. low income, risk of poverty, chronic unemployment, social exclusion)
- Mental (e.g. dementia, depression, anxiety disorders, addictive behaviours)
- Social (e.g. social isolation and discrimination)
- Physical (e.g. mobility issues, inability to perform daily activities)
and Address a Social Need/Gap
Your business should achieve at least one of these desired impact outcomes areas through the provision of:
- Employment Opportunities
- Education
- Skill Development
- Basic Living Needs
- Economic Tools & Services
- Health Care or Social Care Products & Services
- Products & Services to Improve Mental Health & Well-being
- Capacity Building for Organisations in the Social Sector

Provisional Membership
Provisional membership could be granted to companies and/or startups that have conducted due validation/pilot of their social enterprise model but have yet to establish a track record in their social impact or business sustainability.
Upon achieving their social impact, the Provisional membership may be converted into a Social Enterprise membership after an annual review.
Social Enterprise Membership
The Social Enterprise membership is open to all social enterprises that have met the membership criteria for both social impact and business sustainability.

$300 for new Social Enterprise Members;
$100 for yearly renewal (within 6 months from date of expiry)
The Social Enterprise Membership Application Process
1. Apply Online
Articulate your:
- Management Intent – Relevant experiences and expertise of the management team.
- Business Model – Feasible business models must generate more than 50% of revenue from trading activities.
- Social Impact – Identify target beneficiaries and social gaps to be filled.
2. Evaluate Social/Business Outcomes
New applicants will be invited for an online interview for us to understand your:
- Management Intent – Clear intentions to make social outcomes the core objective of the business.
- Business Model – Feasibility and sustainability of the business, demonstrated with concrete plans.
- Social Impact – Resource allocation of at least 20% to fulfil social outcomes, measured using raiSE’s Social Value Toolkit (SVT).
3. Approve Membership
Membership application may take 6-8 weeks for approval including the validation process for your Social Enterprise. You may view our membership terms and conditions here.
- Membership is awarded based on the business model and social outcomes achieved.
- Members are unified by a collective brand in raising awareness for SEs in Singapore.
- Membership status is renewed annually based on the sustainability of business and social achievements.
