Social Enterprise of the Year

For social enterprises who have incorporated for 2 years and more (as of 11 June 2019).

Judging Criteria

• Social Impact
  • Social enterprises must be able to show how their operations, in particular, their products/services, and/or business model, have created positive tangible impact within the community, over and above other solutions
• Business Performance and Financial Viability
  • Social Enterprises are expected to demonstrate the effective use of resources and their ability to operate a sustainable business primarily through their business activities (as indicated through their financial accounts). Social Enterprises that are able to show the scalability of their business model would have an advantage.
• Innovation and Technology
  • Social enterprises are expected to demonstrate the innovative and entrepreneurial thinking behind their set-up, products, services and processes. This should include how they have adopted the use of technology to scale their impact and productivity.
• Leadership and Governance
  • Leaders in the social enterprise must be able to demonstrate their vision, commitment and their ability to provide strategic direction to their staff. They must also show how they have built team commitment, as well as ensured corporate governance within their organisation.
• Working Environment
  • Social enterprises must be able to show how they provide an environment that puts people first. This include evidence of effective communication channels between management as well as good human resources practices.

Awards will be presented to deserving winner(s) in each category

The winner will receive:

1. Cash Prize
   • Social Enterprise of the Year: $70,000
2. Award Recognition
3. In kind contributions and/or support from corporate partners of the Award, where appropriate
4. Customised services from Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE) which includes advisory services, networking opportunities, access to funding and invitations.
   
   

Social Enterprise Start Up of the Year

For social enterprises who have incorporated for less than 2 years (as of 11 June 2019).

Judging Criteria

• Social Impact
  • Social enterprises must be able to show how their operations, in particular, their products/services, and/or business model, have created positive tangible impact within the community, over and above other solutions
• Business Performance and Financial Viability
  • Social Enterprises are expected to demonstrate the effective use of resources and their ability to operate a sustainable business primarily through their business activities (as indicated through their financial accounts). Social Enterprise Champion

For corporations and/or individuals who have made significant contributions to social enterprises in Singapore, resulting in greater social impact.

Criteria

*Corporations and individuals applying to this award will be evaluated separately.

• Contribution to the social enterprise sector
  • Champions are advocates for the social enterprise sector and have taken concrete initiatives to support the social enterprise sector. They are expected to demonstrate this through working partnerships with social enterprises.
• Value and Impact of Support
  • Champions are expected to leverage resources to support the social enterprise sector effectively in a long term and sustainable way. They are expected to measure and articulate the impact of its support in a relevant and clear way.
• Track record and other achievements
  • Champions’ support to the social enterprise sector can be validated by stakeholders in the social enterprise sector.
• Future plans
  • Champions are expected to demonstrate plans to amplify its support to the social enterprise sector for greater impact.

Award recognition will be presented to deserving corporations and/or deserving individuals.
