How are we able to help low income individuals improve their livelihood? This week's episode on 狮城有约 Hello Singapore features Gobbler5, and their initiative TOWKAY as they show as how! The story follows Mary, a young entrepreneur who suffers from muscular dystrophy. TOWKAY provides low cost groceries to aspiring entrepreneurs like Mary, who face challenges in pursuing their dream to set up a business of their own. For each product they sell, they receive up to 80% profit as income. TOWKAY also teaches these entrepreneurs soft skills, like managing their finances and service etiquette, to empower them in running their businesses. Janan Kwek, founder of Gobbler5, was inspired when he travelled around the world and saw poverty at every corner. He hopes that through this initiative, more low income individuals will be encouraged to bring out their inner TOWKAY and take charge of their lives.
